Practice together

Turn practice into conversation

An exchange works best when both participants feel they have equal time to learn and a comfortable way to ask questions.

Set a simple structure

For a 40-minute exchange, try 20 minutes in French and 20 minutes in Japanese. Agree on a topic first, and allow a few minutes for feedback at the end.

Correct with kindness

Ask whether your partner prefers immediate corrections or notes afterward. Focus on a few useful improvements per session rather than interrupting every sentence.

Keep exchanges comfortable

Meet in public or use reputable online platforms; protect personal information and respect boundaries. If expectations do not match, it is fine to end the exchange politely.
